When should I schedule my newborn's session?
Newborns are best photographed within the first four weeks of life, preferably between one and two weeks of age. Feel free to schedule while you are still pregnant and we will pick a "tentative" date based off of your due date. Of course, babies decide when they want to join us so once your new addition arrives, we can re-schedule accordingly if needed.
Where will my session take place?
I prefer newborn sessions to take place in the comfort of your own home or in my home studio, although if weather permits and you would like some nature shots we can do a mixture of indoor/outdoor.
What should my baby wear?
Nothing! I love the look of a brand new baby in their birthday suit or just a diaper and a diaper cover. If you have some fun hats, a favorite outfit, or a special item that reflects mom and dad's career or hobby feel free to bring them along to be incorporated. For mom and dad, please wear or bring a long sleeved black shirt as I will often include the parents in the images.
What should I do to prepare?
If the session will take place in your home, please turn the heat up about a half hour prior to the session. We want the baby to be comfortable without clothes and/or a blanket on. We recommend feeding the newborn about 20 minutes prior and changing their diaper as a happy baby is often a sleepy baby.
Rest assured I am happy to take as many breaks as needed to change/feed the baby and additional time may be needed to allow the newborn to fall asleep.
